NICOLAU STENO, by Rui
In Sciences, the class was asked to prepare and present a PPt on "My Scientist". Each student chose a different scientist and following correction by the Sciences Teacher, leaners were asked to do the same in English. The PPts you will see published here in the next few days are the result of that collaboration between myself and teacher Maria João Machado.
The first one is by Rui and is on Nicolau Steno.
Let's meet him, shall we?

#BringBackOurGirls
Over a month has already gone by and noone knows what has happened to almost 300 schoolgirls kidnapped in Nigeria by terrorist organisation Boko Haram.
Can you imagine this??? Being at school and being abducted because you are a girl and you are learning? How sad for them and how lucky you are - have you ever thought about it? Education is a Human Right!
I'm sure you have already heard this piece of news once it has been on TV for so long because, after all this time, the girls still haven't been returned to their desperate families. There is an international campaign going on for the girls' release and you can also get involved using Twitter and the Hashtag #BringBackOurGirls.
Let's join the movement and demand the girls' release. Become caring citizens and get involved, commit yourselves for the sake of those Nigerian girls. The clock is ticking: the more time goes on, the riskier it is for the young helpless girls.
Have a look now at this video shared by UNICEF yesterday.
And now, our class as committed as ever!

Below are some links for you to revise our current topic: Our Blue Planet (Environmental Issues). This is definitely a very popular topic in the news and obviously in school books, and why??? Because the world - and consequently all living creatures - are suffering from (and with) environmental problems. High time not only to learn the vocab, yes, but also to take action, folks.
Aren't these two points convincing enough for you to care and learn? Well, without further ado, roll up your sleeves and go ahead!!

Due Prizes
As promised here, prizes have been awarded - prizes, plural form, yes, because only two students had compatible mobile phones and because both Vines were so funny and great, João and Diogo got exactly the same: school stuff, as you can see below, including rulers with an irregular verb list, pens, bookmarks, booklets...
Congratulations, boys, and keep on. You have been doing an amazing work in our class blog.

Happy Easter ... again
As you may remember, some weeks ago I posted this entry in which I challenged students to download Vine app and create short looping videos wishing all a Happy Easter. Many of the students did try it, but, as expected, it wasn't compatible with some of their mobile phones. For the most daring ones though that was no obstacle at all as they used other features of their mobile phones to create their films: Sofia was the first to do it and shared with us a short youtube video, and now Joana and Gonçalo have asked me to do that for them. Sooooooooooooooo, here they are :)
Hope you like them! Please leave your precious comments :)
